I might have to side with Samuel. That scene from Pitch Perfect was challenging for me to watch. (Nope, never saw it before). Cringy!!! Made me kinda... angry. It's a bit unclear, but I'll try to unpack it: Teens (not to mention played by 32-year old actors) shouldn't get to be that wholesome while singing the songs of my youth, ones that served as the soundtrack for school dances, 40 ounces, blunts, graffiti and other misguided adventures that took place in Queens, NY. And, of course, I noticed immediately the near-absence or shadowing of POC. I must immediately play Blackstreet, so I can remember what it really sounds like...
